Vesak Festival 2026
Upcoming Event

Event Overview

The festivities will commence with early morning religious programs, including the observing of Sil (Eight Precepts) and a collective 'Bodhi Pooja' at the university shrine. Students and staff, dressed in simple white attire, will gather to participate in these serene rituals, invoking peace and mental clarity. The air will be filled with the fragrance of incense and the soft chanting of stanzas, creating a profound spiritual atmosphere.

As dusk falls, the university premises will transform into a glowing landscape of light. Handcrafted Vesak lanterns, intricately designed by different departments, will illuminate the walkways, symbolizing the light of the Dhamma dispelling the darkness of ignorance. A 'Bhakthi Gee' (devotional songs) performance will be held, where students showcase their musical talents in praise of the Buddha's virtues, fostering a sense of harmony and collective devotion.

The celebration also emphasizes the spirit of 'Dana' (giving) through a community 'Dansala' providing refreshments to all visitors. This act of selfless service highlights the values of generosity and kindness that are central to the university's identity. Through these initiatives, the 2026 Vesak Festival aims to inspire the academic community to lead lives of mindfulness and ethical integrity.
